Abstract

The capability of the post-disaster planning system in the face of unexpected disturbances is a key topic after the Wenchuan earthquake. This research introduces the theoretical discourse of ‘resilience’ to evaluate the capability of the existing post-disaster planning system to cope with such sudden shock and detrimental repercussions. This research not only fills the current academic research gap, it identifies how far the ‘resilience thinking’ has been reflected in planning practice on the empirical front. Two academic journal articles have been published so far.
